From December to March it is considered a rainy season in the Uyuni Salt Flats. That’s why we offer you an experience to get to know this magnificent place: the Uyuni Salt Flats and Lagoons of Colors.

In this tour of two days and one night you can enjoy the main natural and cultural attractions of the region and have the experience of spending a sunset in the middle of the salt flats.

The first day we visit the following places: the Train Cemetery, the town of Colchani, the Uyuni Salt Flats to enjoy a sunset. The Uyuni Salt Flats has a reserve of 9 million tons of Lithium, that is, 40% of the world reserve.

During the second day of the tour we will visit the Valley of the Rocks, the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve and Lagoons of Colors (smaller lagoons).

DETAILS OF THE UYUNI SALT FLATS PACKAGE IN RAINY SEASON 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT

In the tour of two days and one night to Uyuni Salt Flats and Lagoons of Colors in rainy season we will visit the following sites. The first day we visit the following places: the Train Cemetery, the town of Colchani and the Uyuni Salt Flats to enjoy a sunset. During the second day of the tour we will visit the Valley of the Rocks, the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve and Lagoons of Colors (smaller lagoons).

ITINERARY

Day 1

The tour of Uyuni Salt Flats and Lagoons of Colors in rainy season two days and one night begins in the following way. According to the arrival time of our passengers, we will pick them upat the airport or bus terminal to go to Uyuni for breakfast.

 

Around 09:00 a.m. approximately we will start the tour in fully equipped 4X4 vehicles (6 passengers for vehicle). Our first visit will be the “Train Cemetery” (Cementerio de Trenes), nice place that is a testimony of better times in the country; then we continue to “Colchani”, a small town located on the edge of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”, where the salt production is the principal activity for the community members.

 

There, we will see the process of salt production and we will visit the artisan museum shop, where there are giant pieces carved in salt and also other curiosities (jewels, tools and crafts). After this visit, we will enter the famous “Uyuni Salt Flats”, the largest salt desert in the world (10,582 square kilometers, in area). The “Uyuni Salt Flats” has the peculiarity of having a reserve of 9 million tons of Lithium, that is, 40% of the world reserve. Where we can observe water, holes called “Sal eyes” (outlets for subterranean rivers flowing under the “Uyuni Salt Flats”). We will stop at the “Hotel Playa Blanca”, the first hotel built on the “Uyuni Salt Flats” and the only construction on the saline crust. After visiting this singular attraction, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the middle of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”. In the afternoon, we begin our second part of the tour, visiting what are known as “Salt Crystals” (Cristales de Sal) – (special and perfect salt formations that are found in some eyes of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”), later we will visit the “Salt Blocks”.

 

After this we will enjoy an afternoon of photographs with perspective in the middle of the “Uyuni Salt Flats” where we can enjoy the incredible mirror effect offered by this magical place and gives the sensation of being able to walk literally over the sky. Near the end of the afternoon we will move to a strategic point to enjoy an incredible “Sunset”. After this we will go to our hotel for our respective accommodation. Dinner and night in Uyuni.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will go to the miner town of “San Cristóbal”. Later we will cross the “Valley of the Rocks” (Valle de las Rocas), on our way to town of “Villamar”.

 

After visiting this village located in the middle of the desert, we will enter “Eduardo Avaroa Reserve” (REA), where our first stop will be in the “Red Lagoon” (Laguna Colorada) home of the pink flamingos. We will continue our tour in the “Eduardo Avaroa Reserve” (REA) to the “Stone Tree” (Arbol de Piedra), a rock formation carved through the wind erosion and the passing of the years.

 

In the afternoon we will enter to the “High Andean Jewels Route” (Ruta de las Joyas Alto Andinas) to admire the territory composed by “Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiar Khota, Honda and Ramaditas lagoons” After this visit we begin our return to “Uyuni” to arrive around 06:30 p.m. approximately, for your corresponding transfer to the airport or bus terminal or point defined by the passengers.

 

IMPORTANT


The Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia is at an average height of 3600 meters above sea level and in the Lagoons of Colors the altitude exceeds 4300 meters above sea level, so it is recommended to take precautions, especially if passengers suffer from any condition related to altitude. Pay attention.


The minimum temperature reaches -18°c and the maximum 17°c and in the Lagunas de Colores the minimum at -22°c and the maximum 10°c. It is recommended to bring: gloves, thermal hat, double-cane boots, thick socks and thick jacket preferably wind breaker or thermal.

Uyuni Salt Flats is an extension of 10.582km² of pure salt. It is essential to wear sunglasses and sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 50 or more in order to avoid eye and skin injuries. The same happens in the Lagoons of Colors for being at an altitude of 4500.
