Day 1

The Stars tour in the Uyuni Salt Flats, Deserts and Lagoons of Colors VIP in dry season begins in the following way.  According to the arrival time of our passengers, we will pick them up at the airport or bus terminal to go to Uyuni for a welcome breakfast.

Around 09:00 a.m. approximately we will start the tour in fully equipped 4X4 vehicles (6 passengers for vehicle). Our first visit will be “Colchani”, a small town located on the edge of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”, where the salt production is the principal activity for the community members. There, we will see the process of salt production and we will visit the artisan museum shop, where there are giant pieces carved in salt and also other curiosities (jewels, tools and crafts). After this visit, we will enter the famous “Uyuni Salt Flats”, the largest salt desert in the world (10,582 square kilometers, in area).

The “Uyuni Salt Flats” has the peculiarity of having a reserve of 9 million tons of Lithium, that is, 40% of the world reserve. Where we can observe water, holes called “Salt eyes” (Ojos de Sal) – (outlets for subterranean rivers flowing under the Uyuni Salt Flats). We will stop at the “Hotel Playa Blanca”, the first hotel built on the “Uyuni Salt Flats” and the only construction on the saline crust. After visiting this singular attraction, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the middle of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”.

Then we will go to “Incahuasi Island” (Isla Incahuasi) also misnamed (Isla del Pescador), whose geomorphology is due to remains of petrified corals covered with giant cactus up to 12m in height. From its highest point, we will have an exceptional 360° view of the entire “Uyuni Salt Flats”. We continue the trip with our afternoon of photographs with perspective in the middle of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”.  Then we will visit what are known as “Salt Crystals” (Cristales de Sal) – (special and perfect salt formations that are found in some eyes of the “Uyuni Salt Flats”). Near the end of the afternoon we will move to a strategic point to enjoy an incredible “Sunset”.

After this we will go to our hotel for our respective accommodation. Dinner at the hotel. After dinner, we will leave in our vehicles near the “Uyuni Salt Flats” to enjoy a “Tour of Stars” (Tour de Estrellas) where we will be able to enjoy the different nocturnal phenomena that the “Uyuni Salt Flats” sky offers us, in time to make nocturnal

In the afternoon we will enter to the “High Andean Jewels Route” (Ruta de las Joyas Alto Andinas) to admire the territory composed by “Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiar Khota, Honda and Ramaditas lagoons” Near the end of the afternoon we will go to our hotel located in the “Desert of Siloli” (Desierto de Siloli). The program of day 3 of the Stars tour in Uyuni Salt Flats, is as follows.  After breakfast our trip continues on its third day, visiting the “Stone Tree” (Arbol de Piedra), (thanks for not trying to climb the tree), rock carved by the wind and the years in the middle of the “Siloli Desert” (Desierto de Siloli).

After this visit, we will enter the “National Reserve of Andean Fauna Eduardo Avaroa” (REA) and we will visit the “Red Lagoon” (Laguna Colorada), whose name is due to the coloration produced by the Artemia, microscopic crustaceans that serve as food for the flamingos, which we will see in small colonies; (because of climate changes and high evaporation in the highland basin, water levels in the lagoons are rapidly decreasing, which has limited the population of flamingos year after year).

After this we will enter the heart of the “National Reserve of Andean Fauna Eduardo Avaroa” (REA), where we will visit the “Geysers Sun of the morning “(Geysers Sol de Mañana), that form an impressive geothermal site where several lava kettles and boiling minerals decorate the region with impressive steam clouds. Our journey continues on its way to the south to “Green Lagoon” (Laguna Verde), one of the most southerly places in Bolivia. Then we will cross the famous “Dalí Desert” (Desierto de Dali), which reminds us the art of the Catalan artist due to the fantastic shapes and colors of this landscape. Our trip continues to “Polques Thermal Baths” (Aguas Termales de Polques), a pool of natural hot water where we can bathe. We will enjoy lunch in route.

From “Green Lagoon” (Laguna Verde) we will return to “Uyuni”. We will cross the town of “Villamar”, lost place in the middle of the huge desert of the Lípez, before crossing the largest mining project in Bolivian history “San Cristóbal”.
