Tiwanaku is one of the oldest civilizations in the world and origin of Amerindian cultures. The Archaeological Site allows you to appreciate important attractions such as the Akapana Pyramid, the Semi-subterranean Temple, the Kalasasaya Temple, the Puerta del Sol and various Archaeological Museums where the famous Bennett Monolith is located, measuring about 7 meters with a weight of 20 tons.

Nearby, Isla del Sol is a destination of great beauty with cultivated terraces on the imposing Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. It is a very special place since it is considered the place where the Inca Empire started. The most representative attractions of the area are the Archaeological remains of the Pilkokaina Palace, the Yumani Steps and the Inca Fountain.

Day 1

To start the Tiwanaku tour, we pick up the passengers from their lodging in the City of La Paz and we leave by asphalted road towards the Archaeological Site of Tiwanaku, approximately 2 hours.

There we will visit the Pyramid of Akapana and the semi-subterranean Temple, as well as the Kalasasaya Temple, one of the largest and oldest ceremonial centers in the world. We will also know the famous Puerta del Sol, a stone arch of approximately 10 tons, in which the calendar of Tiwanaku is observed.

Later, we will visit the archaeological museums where will see the Monolith Bennett, the largest of all the monoliths. After the visit to the archaeological site, we will have lunch in a typical restaurant in the village of Tiwanaku.

At the end of the trip we will be transferred to the Copacabana Peninsula, approximately 4 hours, during the journey you will be able to appreciate diverse altiplanic landscapes of singular beauty, among which stands out the imposing and unique Lake Titicaca. Once you arrive in Copacabana, the transfer will be made to the lodging for their respective accommodation.

The rest of the day will be free to tour the village or rest. In the evening, dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 2

After breakfast we will move to the port of the peninsula, from where the boats will depart to the northern part of the “Isla del Sol”, approximately a1h 30m by sailing.

Once arrived at the port, we will visit the archaeological remains of La Chincana, also known as the Labyrinth of the Inca, in addition will be able to visit La Mesa del Inca.

Later we will return to the boat to go to the southern part of the Isla del Sol to enjoy a typical lunch: the Andean Apthapi. After lunch we will visit the most representative attractions of the southern part of the Isla del Sol.

We start with the archeological remains of the Pilkokaina Palace, which consist of rooms completely built of uncut stone and the steps of Yumani by which they can make an ascent of about 60 meters from the shore of the Sacred Lake. Finally you will be able to appreciate a fountain constructed with chiseled stone to which three jets of water converge and at the moment it is denominated the Fountain of the Three Waters or Fountain of the Inca.

After the visit, we will return to the Copacabana Peninsula from where we will depart for the city of La Paz. After the arrival, we make the transfer to the lodging or point agreed by the passengers.


The destination has an altitude of more than 3600 m above sea level, so it is recommended to take precautions for people with altitude-related conditions.
