In City tour La Paz you will know the most interesting places in the city of La Paz, one of the most important cities of Bolivia: Plaza Murillo (main square), the Cathedral (in the down town), the Legislative Palace, the historic Calle Jaén (traditional street) and the San Francisco Church of Casco Viejo (Old Town).

Half Day

The Lagoons of colors in Bolivia and deserts in the Andean Plateau Tour begins in the following way. According to the arrival time of our passengers, we will pick them up at the airport or bus terminal to go to Uyuni for breakfast.

Around 09:00 a.m. approximately we will start the tour in fully equipped 4X4 vehicles (6 passengers for vehicle). We will go to the miner town of “San Cristóbal”. Later we will cross the “Valley of the Rocks” (Valle de las Rocas), on our way to town of “Villamar”.

After visiting this village located in the middle of the desert, we will enter “Eduardo Avaroa Reserve” (REA), where our first stop will be in the “Red Lagoon” (Laguna Colorada), whose name is due to the coloration produced by the Artemia, microscopic crustaceans that serve as food for the flamingos, which we will see in small colonies; (because of climate changes and high evaporation in the highland basin, water levels in the lagoons are rapidly decreasing, which has limited the population of flamingos year after year).

We will continue our tour in the “Eduardo Avaroa Reserve” (REA) to the “Stone Tree” (Arbol de Piedra), a rock formation carved through the wind erosion and the passing of the years. Finally, we will visit the “Smaller Lagoons” (Lagunas Menores)(Chiarkhota, Ramaditas, Hedionda, Honda and Cañapa).

We pick up the passengers for their lodging in the City of La Paz to begin the visit to Plaza Murillo (Km 0), where the Presidential Palace, Parliament, Cathedral and Legislative Palace are located.

We continue the visit by the Casco Viejo and the well known colonial street Jaén where there are museums and artisan shops. Then we head to the famous Church of San Francisco and the popular-commercial area of La Paz with its colorful markets, handicrafts made of silver, wood and traditional fabrics.

In Nuestra Señora de La Paz, we will follow the route of the traditional women, the Cholitas and their commercial activities. We start the visit in the Uruguayan Market, a market with a particular context, since it retains its colonial aspect, with the sale of vegetables, seeds and animals that are marketed in the view of the client. We continue the walk to Mercado Rodríguez, which remains open all week and during the weekends grows so much that it occupies all the adjacent streets.

Continue along Calle Sagárnaga, the main shopping street for typical clothing and handicrafts. From here we also visit Calle de las Brujas and finish the tour in the handicrafts market of San Francisco.

Subsequently, we make the transfer to the lodging or point agreed with the passengers.
